FAQ

2024 Camp

Q: Are you running an in-person Coxswain Leadership Camp this summer?

Yes. We are in the planning stages of getting approval, applications have been sent to the University of Washington’s Athletics Department and we are waiting on final approval! Dates are Week 1: July 8th-12th. Week 2: July. 15th-19th

Q: Will there be an Online Cox Camp this summer? Why haven’t you decided?

Maybe. Online Camp would most likely be at the end of July. Monday through Thursday. All ages are welcome! I’m trying to roll out a different online option that might take it’s place. I’ll have my final decision by March.

Travel/Transportation

Q: Will I be able to arrive a day early/stay an extra night?

Campers will have an option to arrive Sunday evening due to the flight schedule.  There will be a fee associated with reserving any additional nights' stay that is set by the University of Washington's housing services.  Meals are not provided for early or late arrivals.  Campers will have a chaperoned opportunity to go out for dinner, and meals are available for purchase on/near campus.

Q: What time should I fly in on Monday? I don't want to miss any minute of camp.

Camp starts at 1 pm on Monday.  Campers flying in from the East Coast should book the first flight out in order to make it.  The first hour or so is orientation and team-building activities.

Q: What time can I book my departure flight?

Camp ends with a boxed lunch at Conibear Shellhouse at 1 pm.  Campers can book their flights anytime around 4:30 pm or later if they don’t want to miss any part of the last day.  We just want to make sure there is enough time for campers to leave with a full stomach, so use your best judgment of what flights make sense and are most economical. There has been campers who have needed to leave earlier which just puts their opportunity to get boated for the last day in question due to logistics.

Q: Is there transportation to/from the airport?

Campers will be responsible for booking their own transportation to/from the airport.

There will be counselors welcoming campers at the airport and chaperoning campers to their elected form of transportation. Last year all campers chose either Uber or Lyft. We helped to coordinate group rides when campers arrived at the same time.

Q: My child will be traveling alone. Will there be someone at the airport waiting?

On Mondays, absolutely.  Staff members will be present at the airport on Monday morning, hanging around baggage claim to make sure campers navigate the airport and will be able to direct them where to go to catch their Uber/Lyft or other mode of transportation. There will also be a staff member located at the dorms to greet the campers when they arrive.  For Sunday arrivals, there will not be a staff member present at the airport, but there will be a staff member present at the dorm to greet the camper as they arrive and to help with check-in.  Please send us an e-mail with any questions or concerns regarding Sunday travel.

Q: Is your Coxswain Leadership Camp Co-ed?

YES!!!  Coxswain Leadership camp is a co-ed camp and is open to any high school-aged coxswain, male or female. If you are a collegiate or Masters aged coxswain, please send me an email to start the conversation of if it will be appropriate for you to attend.

Q: Will the topic of getting recruited or how to get recruited be addressed at camp?

Yes. Our counselors and assistant coaches will give their recruiting journeys, tips and provide opportunity for Q & A’s throughout the week.

Cost/Payment

Q: How much does the camp cost?

Coxswain Leadership camp costs $2500.

Q: Can I pay in installments?

Yes.  You can have the option of sending in check payments, or I can set up a payment plan. Just message me and we'll make a plan together.

Q: Are their non-refundable deposits or refunds? What is the refund policy?

No deposits are required. Our refund policy is a full refund minus an administrative fee of $100 before June 1st. There are no refunds after June 1st. In the event that a camper tests positive for Covid-19 there will be no refunds. I highly recommend trip insurance.
