In 21 years of rowing, including 12 years on the US National team, Mary developed a knack for being a valuable humble, vital, and respected teammate. Part athlete, part coach, the coxswains role is unique and offers valuable leadership experience and perspective. Mary has been giving accounts of her story and path to gold to many organizations. Her speaking experience includes themes of inspiration, team leadership, and the culture of success.
She talks about how as the smallest member of the team, she learned what traits make an innate leader and how she could unify a group of strong individuals into a winning team. Mary has a passion for engaging the youth in dreaming of what is possible because she started her rowing journey the summer before beginning high school and began to dream of the Olympics in college.
