Virginia and DC area is the second stop for the 2015 Coxswain Clinic Series. With the help of West Springfield Spartan Crew, The 9th Seat is headed back east. I’ve given many coxswain clinics in the DC area and the rowers and coxswains there never disappoint!
Last year’s Boston clinic was a blast so it was a no brainer to come back. This year I’m adding a special second session for coxswains who want to take their leadership skills to the next level. The full day experience is designed to give coxswains a glimpse of what topics and skills are covered during my week long Coxswain Leadership Camp.
Winter is here which means for coxswains it is time to dust off their clipboards, get new running shoes, and brush up on your stereo management skills. Or it means to take the time to reevaluate your spring time goals, your leadership style, and your technical eye. I’ve designed a new and improved coxswain clinic format that I’m excited to share to the whole rowing community!
The 9th Seat is not just for coxswains I’m expanding my summer camp program to include two-one week rowing camps that will allow junior athletes a chance to train like a national team athlete at the University of Washington boathouse, Conibear Shellhouse.
I’ve always wanted to offer coxing clinics at the San Diego Crew Classic because it is a tough but rewarding course to navigate. I’m offering two options: (1) small group session and (2) One-on-one session. Kick off this racing season right and get dialed!
Becoming more athletically minded will help you be a better coxswain. This summer choose to be a better athlete. Here is my attempt at becoming a better athlete by learning to be a smarter runner and dead lifter!

This weekend instead of going to Boston for HOCR, I’m headed to St. Louis to put on a 2-day coxswain clinic for the St. Louis Rowing Club. Look for a re-cap next week. Good luck to all the coxies steering the Charles. Drive it like you stole it! St. Louis coxies, watch out! I’m coming to make you coxwain machines….
On July 18 and 19 The 9th Seat got to go up to Alaska to run a clinic for the three club teams that row up there. The Kenai Crewsers, Anchorage Rowing Association and Alaska Midnight Sun Rowing Club came together for a two day coxswain clinic that was partly sponsored by the Northwest Rowing Council. The first day started…
